Ally Fiola: Album release show

Ally Fiola has been working hard for most of the winter and spring on her debut jazz album, entitled "Dreaming Away". The album consists of mainly original music, inspired by hard bop and New Orleans brass band.

The debut album was recorded with the help of her quintet, The Next Quest, at the illustrious Sonic Temple in Halifax NS. This project wouldn't have been possible without the Dream Hughie Award, and the musicians who recorded with her.

Joining Ally at the show are: -Dan Corbett (trombone) -Addison Sowery-Quinn (sousaphone) -Paul Baker (guitar) -Tom Cuming (drums)

Join Ally Fiola (sax) and Chris Rogers (piano) at the Compass Distillers on May 31st, 7-10pm for some free jazz! They will be performing jazz standards, original music, and maybe even a few pop tunes.


36 CBG Band Christmas Concert

Halifax Central Library, Spring Garden Road, Halifax

The 36 Canadian Brigade Group Band presents A Family Festive Event, a delightful afternoon of Holiday Music to entertain the whole family. All ages are welcome and should be prepared to sing along. And there will be treats afterwards! The musicians in the band are reservists from a very diverse range of occupations, including teachers, students, and many other professions. Musicians in the Canadian Forces promote morale within the ranks and liaise between the Forces and civilian populations.


The Next Quest & Josh Lake

Led by Ally Fiola, "The Next Quest" is a 5-piece jazz combo which performs original music and arrangements inspired by third-stream jazz, New Orleans, and gospel.

Josh Lake is a multi-award winning funk and soul musician, backed by a tight and gritty band. Make sure to bring your dancing shoes for this night full of heavy beats!


Sisterhood Debut - Prismatic Arts Festival

Women Safe & Sound is a 5 phased grassroots art project creating original song and music film on the issue of violence against women. 'Sisterhood' will debut at the Prismatic Arts Festival on Sept 15th 7pm at the Bus Stop Theatre. Please join us for an interactive evening of story telling and music.


The Next Quest

Ally Fiola & The Next Quest is a jazz quintet consisting of sax, trombone, tuba, guitar and drums. It features original music influenced by Mingus, Cannonball Adderley, Kenny Wheeler, and Gospel/New Orleans sounds.
