Film Composer

As a composer and seasoned musician, Ally has experience writing for a variety of settings and styles, and draws inspiration from composers such as Danny Elfman, John Powell, Rachel Portman, Shostakovich, and John Williams; she's particularly won over by great (and quirky) melodies. On the jazz side, Ally has been influenced by Cannonball Adderley, Preservation Hall, Charles Mingus, Duke Ellington, and Kenny Wheeler.

Most recently, Ally completed an intensive 8-week film scoring mentorship under the guidance of veteran composer David Findlay (funded by the Music Nova Scotia mentorship grant) where she received hands-on experience and opportunities to expand her portfolio.

In addition to her diverse composing skill set, Ally also has experience recording, mixing, and orchestrating film scores and score mock ups. Ally also completed all the mixing on her debut jazz album, Dreaming Away, and recently completed her first media credit for an animated short film she scored.

Ally is a member of the Screen Composer's Guild of Canada, Screen Nova Scotia, Alliance for Women Film Composers, and Women in Film & Television Atlantic.
